Our favourite Aussie lass played a sell out, all encompassing, headline show in London last month. After we stumbled upon her in Manchester a couple of years back, Pretty Girl has been making a major sparkle on our radar. With a 90 minute headliner at The Cause, PG aka Emilia, made it a proper new-homecoming. As she’s settling into East London herself (welcome! <3)! With live vocals, drum machine and synthesisers, as well as a perfectly paired support in the shape of Cameo Blush, it was a night to remember and not to be missed.
The Cause sits down near the Docklands in Canning Town, since moving from their old haunt up-north in Tottenham. With multiple rooms and outdoor space to set whatever vibe the event calls for, the intimate space drenched in deep-red made the spot the only vessel to host Pretty Girl’s shining moment. Decks at crowd level are always a star in our eyes, creating a shared atmosphere, an easy’n’open exchange between the artists and revellers is essential – we just wanna party, together.
Vocalist/DJ/Producer, Pretty Girl knows what’s she’s doing behind those decks and it’s what kept us captivated in the palm of her hand all evening. Merging techno, house and UKG flavours, plus live vocals, she’s cultivating a sound that’s distinctive, optimistic, ethereal, and always out of the box. Be sure to expect the unexpected.
Since starting out, PG’s been teasing her own vocals in her tracks, and now she’s flourished into her fully mic-ed up, diva self. You know we’re here for it. With her most recently serving, Rewind, giving us all the nostalgic, dreamscape imagery we’ve been thirsty for. Of course the track made top of our list of moments of the set, the crowd of fans were sent into a swirling sea of dancing and singing right back at our DJ princess from down under.
PG pulled beats from her killer discography with fan-fav, Inside. Another vocal-heavy tune with a thumper of a bassline. Angelic whispers of 90s trance, lo-fi tech elements, and pads are woven together, intertwining with Pretty’s longful lyrics. Something about the track pulls us back to Robyn’s romantic dance floor era. This one’s a beat that draws you in and keeps you mesmerised in its surge. Whether it’s popping out numerous singles and EP’s, ultra refreshing remixes, or securing belter festival slots and live shows, Pretty Girl’s stamp is all over it. She’s talked about writing her tracks, from original beat to the very last lyric – so wherever you catch PG as she’s snowballing into success after success, it’s gonna be dripping in her specialist flair and taste.
