GRL BUNNY, a newcomer to the music scene, has released her second single, “To The Grave,” after her breakthrough release “Michaela”. Today, Broke Magazine premieres her music video ahead of its release at 4 p.m
GRL BUNNY’s heartfelt and honest lyrics are set against simple 00’s influenced R&B backbeats and delicate keys. As she glides over the track, the vocalist sings, “I promise that your secret is safe, I’ll lock it up and throw the keys away” painting a picture of a ride or die friendship. Unlike the conventional romantic love storylines, we’re used to hearing, “To The Grave” is a dedication to BUNNY’s dearest pals and friends that she wanted to honour via her music. It was written during the pandemic and self-recorded in her bedroom.
The emotional self-directed music video, which continues the gorgeous ode to her female friendships, features GRL BUNNY playing the tune in front of blown-up photos of her closest friends, intermingled with home film clips of them on nights out and even singing together. GRL BUNNY’s characteristic 90s Madonna ESC style does not disappoint in a dress developed and handcrafted by one of the featured pals, dressed in white heavenly frills.
Speaking on the track GRL BUNNY says: “I’m someone that it would be fair to say has been quite unlucky when it comes to romantic love (and my friends will testify to that!) but when it comes to friendships, and female friendships, in particular, I hit the jackpot. I wanted to celebrate the amazing women in my life in this song and make them the stars of the music video.”
GRL BUNNY has spent the last decade writing for several up-and-coming artists including FLO, AWA, Call Me Loop, Louisa Johnson, and Erin Bloomer, as well as an impressive list of high-profile producers and co-writers including co-writer on “To The Grave” Emily Phillips (Florence + The Machine, Sigrid, and John Newman) and Grammy Award-winning producer Wayne Wilkins (Beyonce, Natasha Bedingfield and Cheryl Cole).
GRL BUNNY is now ready to take the stage as a genuine artist in her own right after reclaiming the autonomy of her creation. The emerging superstar is ready to catch you off guard in the deepest of your sentiments while you’re busy dancing and singing along to the addictive tunes, ready to empower not only herself but the audience expects her to be the most unabashed, creative version of themselves.
