Broke Magazine’s Guide To Ibiza 2024

Welcome to Ibiza! This tiny island has us Brokerz raring to go and with it being mid-season, before we pack our bags and head off for a rager of a week, we’ve put together a guide to all the places and clubs you can let loose and make this Balearic marvel your playground (the only thing missing is a ball pit…oh wait, they have one at Pikes).

While the price tag for visiting this magical island will probably have your eyes popping, there are ways to do it on a budget. We, the champions of the breadline, who refused to break a twenty for a beer at DC10 and have wallets drier than your mouth, remember doing four seasons living off bread and aioli, drinking out of empty pot noodles in the workers block Azul Apartments, but the music and aura of this place is worth every penny (I’m still reminiscing over being in the garden at DC10 with tunes pumping, planes flying right across my head and my face scrunched cause Seth Troxler has just dropped a banger).

Ibiza is famous for its energetic dance scene and you can’t leave without sampling it, with sick DJ’s spinning from midday in restaurants and beach clubs, so even if you’re on a family trip or just want to kick back, you can still experience the culture of this island while unwinding. It may be an Ibiza cliché to watch the sunset at or near Café del Mar in San Antonio while listening to relaxed Balearic sounds, but the atmosphere alone makes the journey worthwhile at least once. So, here’s our Monday-Sunday club guide for anyone heading to the island this season…

MONDAYS

DC10 – CIRCOLOCO

There is only one place to be on a Monday and that’s Circoloco, the event started as a Monday morning after-hours party at DC10 but has now grown into a global brand. Known for its raw and authentic vibe, DC10 retains a more underground, less commercial feel compared to other Ibiza clubs. Regular headliners include a mix of both legendary and emerging artists, such as Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Seth Troxler and Luciano. DC10’s layout contributes significantly to its legendary status. The club boasts two dance floors, the Main Room and The Terrace, often bathed in sunlight during the early hours, offering a unique open-air experience. Personally, this is my favourite club and event.

TUESDAYS

HI IBIZA – MARTINEZ BROTHERS

The club used to be Ibiza’s most legendary club Space which closed down and turned into Hi Ibiza. It has been voted Number 1 club in the world which is pretty impressive. The Martinez Brothers residency at Hi Ibiza is a highlight of the club’s summer calendar which is an unmissable party. Although the club gets absolutely rammed there is still plenty of room to groove. It even has outdoor chill-out areas full of tipis to rest in when you’re feeling too F**KED.

WEDNESDAY

AMNESIA – PARADISE

Amnesia is one of Ibiza’s most iconic clubs. With a rich history dating back to the 1970s, it has evolved into a modern mecca for electronic music enthusiasts. The club features two main areas: the expansive terrace, known for its sunrise sessions and the more intimate Club Room. Jamie Jones Paradise party originated at DC10 but recently found a new home at Amnesia. The move from DC10 to Amnesia has allowed Jamie Jones to expand the Paradise experience, taking advantage of Amnesia’s larger capacity and advanced production capabilities. Regular guests include artists such as Richy Ahmed, Joseph Capriati, Patrick Topping, Waff and Nicole Moudaber, each bringing their unique sound to the dancefloor.

THURSDAYS

DC10 – SOLID GROOVES

Few promotions have been as successful in recent years as Solid Grooves, with its unique brand of rolling deep-tech music. It was understandable why Michael Bibi, PAWSA and others turned Thursday nights into a barrier last summer given their cult-like devotion. The party returns to DC10, the underground hotspot for partying, in 2023 when the motel renamed itself the “Casino Motel”. Thanks to the inhabitants and their friends, guests can anticipate the same fusion of Tech and Minimal House that has defined the celebration in previous years. The beats are solid, but the basslines are shaky.

FRIDAY

PACHA – MUSIC ON

Without a doubt you have to be going to Marco Carolas Music On party, you literally cannot go to Ibiza and not attend this event. Even when I have gone to Music On in places other than Ibiza it’s never really the same. Marco Carola is known for his marathon sets and seamless mixing, creating a journey that keeps the crowd entranced from start to finish which makes these parties so fun. Music on at Pacha combines the club’s glamorous, upscale vibe with an underground music ethos. The energy is electric, with a crowd that is both passionate and knowledgeable about the music. The audience at Music On is diverse and international, drawing clubbers from all over the world. The event’s reputation ensures a crowd that is not only stylish and sophisticated but also deeply passionate about techno and house music.

SATURDAY

USHUAIA – ANTS

Unlike the events listed above, Ants is a daytime party at the open-air arena Ushuaia. Since its debut in 2013, ANTS has grown into one of the island’s most celebrated events. The party’s lineups feature a carefully curated selection of house and techno heavyweights, including regulars like Andrea Oliva, Joris Voorn, Nic Fanciulli and Kölsch. The music is deep, driving, and designed to keep the energy high from the first beat to the last. Join the colony, feel the rhythm and dance the day away at ANTS – where the underground sound meets the sun-soaked glamour of Ushuaïa Ibiza.

SUNDAY

AMNESIA – PYRAMID

Pyramid is dedicated to the deeper, more underground sounds of house and techno. It offers heavy techno and tech house beats in separate rooms so you can get the best of both. This season’s lineup features a powerhouse roster of international icons like Amelie Lens, Ricardo Villalobos, Charlotte De Witte, Tiga, and Adam Beyer, each set to dominate the terrace with their electrifying performances.

HIDDEN GEMS

Now that we’ve established all the Broke-approved club nights (so far), there’s also some hidden gems and must-do’s across the island. If you’re hitting it hard for a week, here’s a few spots for a more chilled-out vibe….

PIKES IBIZA

Pikes Ibiza is a legendary boutique hotel and event venue, located in San Antonio, Ibiza. It is renowned for its unique, bohemian atmosphere, rich history and vibrant party scene. Pikes have been a favourite spot for celebrities and music icons since it was founded in the 1970s by Tony Pike. It’s quite strict and exclusive so make sure you’re dressed smart and over 27! Guests such as BICEP, Denis Sulta, Patrick Topping and many more have all played here. The venue is SO fun it has a ball pit, fortune tellers and a piano if you ever wanna jump on to create some tunes yourself.

COVA SANTA

Cova Santa isn’t just a place; it’s an experience. The cave itself serves as the centrepiece, providing a mystical backdrop for everything from intimate gatherings to parties under the stars. Surrounded by the island’s lush countryside, Cova Santa offers breathtaking views that heighten the senses and inspire creativity.

BLUE MARLIN

Nestled along the sun-kissed shores of Ibiza, where crystal-clear waters meet the vibrant beats of electronic music, lies Blue Marlin – an iconic beach club and music destination that epitomizes the island’s famed lifestyle. Whether sipping cocktails by the sea or dancing under the stars, every moment at Blue Marlin Ibiza is infused with sophistication and style. Blue Marlin Ibiza has hosted an array of internationally renowned DJs and artists over the years. Some notable DJs who’ve performed here include Solomun, Guy Gerber, Jamie Jones, Richie Hawtin and many more.

UNDERGROUND IBIZA

While Underground is tucked away in a difficult-to-find spot between Amnesia and Privilege, it’s well worth the search. A far more intimate haunt than other super-clubs awaits, where the music speaks for itself and the lineups are frequently worth yelling about, if subtly, so they stay a well-kept secret for knowledgeable locals and residents. The secret to Underground’s success is that it undertakes very little promotion outside of social media. As a result, there’s always an intimate vibe and a great, clued-up crowd!
