Back at it with our next Weekly Wob Wrap-Up! We are almost halfway through festival season (wtf right?!) and new tunes are being released faster than you can say ‘Cor blimey that’s a banger’. Our team have been continuing to trawl through the ‘black hole’ of an inbox to review the latest under-the-radar wobs.

Nikka Costa – Dance ‘N Forget 

Nikka Costa, the soul sensation who captured hearts with her 2001 breakout album “Everybody Got Their Something,” is back with a fresh and electrifying single, “Dance ‘N Forget.” With her signature blend of retro elegance and contemporary dance-pop flair, Costa again proves why she’s a powerhouse in the music industry. 

Born to legendary arranger and producer Don Costa, Nikka’s musical journey started young, recording her first single at five years old. Her latest track, “Dance ‘N Forget,” embodies the essence of her 2024 album “Dirty Disco,” her first collection of original material in 16 years. This new single is a vibrant testament to her steadfast belief in the power of classic soul, infused with modern, stylish grooves.

Hardy & Martin – So Sweet

The esteemed Fibre label welcomes DJ/producers Lee Hardy and Con Martin, known as Hardy & Martin, with their latest release, ‘So Sweet.’ This dynamic duo delivers unparalleled dancefloor energy with this track as it features uplifting pianos, feel-good vocals, and driving beats, embodying the iconic Fibre sound.

Lee Hardy, a veteran DJ with over 15 years of experience and multiple releases, is renowned for his piano-influenced, big vocal sound. He has held residencies in Liverpool, Manchester, and Ibiza. Con Martin, with a decade behind the decks and recent forays into production, has his tracks played from the UK to Marbella and Ibiza.

Lauren Mia – Fervor

Renowned for her soundscapes and deep melodic prowess, Lauren Mia returns with a fiery new track titled ‘Fervor’. Known for her seamless blend of emotive melodies and driving beats, this new track is a testament to Lauren’s ability to craft music that resonates on both a cerebral and visceral level. Stef Mensesidis – Aquaton 

Stef Mendesidis has dropped a new 7-minute-long track called “Aquaton,” as a preview of his upcoming debut album “Decima,” set for release on July 26th via Ben Klock’s revered Klockworks label. Known for its cutting-edge techno offerings, Klockworks has previously showcased a series of celebrated EPs from artists like Etapp Kyle, Troy, and Temudo. 

A vanguard in the techno landscape, Stef Mendesidis hails from the vibrant electronic music scenes of Greece. With over a decade-long career, Mendesidis has distinguished himself through a unique approach that marries the raw, visceral energy of analogue soundscapes with modern electronic precision. 

Tominthechamber & Catching Cairo – Rollercoasting (Cash Only Remix)

Cash Only releases “Rollercoastering” this week. Known for his ability to blend driving house rhythms with the nuanced influences of UK Garage, Jungle, and Afro House, Cash Only’s production prowess has cemented his reputation as a versatile force in the industry. This new track showcases this skillset, presenting a rolling Tech House remix that definitelycaptivates you from start to finish.

“Rollercoastering” is a remix of a track by Tominthechamber, a rising UK rap artist and drummer, featuring the unmistakable vocals of Catching Cairo (famed for her contribution to Hybrid Minds’ hit “Touch”). Cash Only’s rendition retains the original’s vibrant energy while infusing it with a bass-driven house vibe, making it a must-listen for DnB fans. 

Sean Doron, Tim Engelhardt – Can’t Get Over You 

Tim Engelhardt and Sean Doron deliver an encompassing track titled ‘Can’t Get Over You’, released as part of their new EP ‘Open Doors’ on the esteemed Rose Avenue label. This track unfolds with a hypnotic rhythm underpinned by production and an unmistakable melodic touch. A hauntingly pitched-down vocal repeats the track’s title throughout, adding an eerie yet irresistible allure that intrigues us to f*ck from the outset.

Engelhardt, the prodigious German producer who made waves with his debut album at the tender age of 17, brings his signature flair for harmony and expansive melodies to the forefront once more. Teamed up with Israeli dance luminary Sean Doron, whose tracks have graced top labels and stages from Ibiza to Miami, the duo continues to push boundaries with their synergistic studio chemistry.

Martin Eyerer & Namito – Can’t Stop Me

Berlin’s electronic music scene sees a powerful union with ‘Can’t Stop Me’, a new track from esteemed producers Martin Eyerer and Namito, featuring vocals by Emil Rømer. Released under Berlin-based Embassy One, known for its groundbreaking roster including Monolink and Moby, the single blends Eyerer’s technical prowess with Namito’s cultural influences, creating a bass-heavy house anthem.
