Any Boomtown attendee knows that opening and closing ceremonies are integral to the festivals culture, equal to their lineup, storyline and punters, its an oppertunity to sink into the festival and depart on a positive note (no last-song sadness here).
Now, thanks to us noisy lot kicking up a fuss, they’ve released their 2023 EP, where we can finally give those ‘The Twin Trail’ tracks another listen (big up Boomtown).
Specially curated with artists, performers and visuals, Boomtown’s opening ceremony sets the groundwork for the weekend ahead, with a focus on love, respect and self exploration. Produced by KREED and Gold Dubs, this year’s opening track, “The Time is Now”, features vocals from underground music legend Inja and soul soothing Eva Lazarus.
KREED: “My first Boomtown was around ten years ago, and like many others, I’ve been hooked since day one. The opening and closing ceremonies over the years have always been super inspirational, and for me those shows are a huge part of what gives Boomtown its special and unique flavour as a festival.”
Aligning their closing ceremony soundtrack ‘Find Your Light’ to the festival’s immersive storyline (did anyone actually see Ellen?), the tune, produced by Kleu with with vocals from Red, hones in on mental health, looking within and giving your true self to the outer world.
Kleu: “It was an honour to be asked to contribute to this project. From its inception all the way up to the final production itself we couldn’t help but feel that we were a part of something very special. As for the ceremony itself: it was an utterly life changing experience.”
