Every Event Worth Leaving Your Yard For This August

Seriously though, how the f*ck is it August already?! Between festivals, endless events and a non-stop party schedule summer seems to have flown by and with the sunny season coming to a close, you best believe I’ll be making the most of every single sesh I can before September rolls around, and the seasonal depression kicks in (iykyk). As always, we’re not about wasting your time or money, so we’ve spent ours scouting out every event worth attending this upcoming month to make sure we’re ONLY recommending raves you’ll rate…

Vinyl Bitch Open Decks 008

Dalston Superstore – Monday 5th August

Sorry to any USB mixers out there, but nothing slaps harder than an underground DJ dropping vinyl exclusives that you’ll spend the next six months wishing you could find the ID for. Whether you’re a raver after a Monday boogie (random but we rate it) or mixer itching to test your tunes on a crowd head down to Dalston Superstore tomorrow.

Open Decks

Planet Wax – Wednesday 7th August

Not to push open-deck nights down your neck too much this month (lmao), but for anyone South of the river this Wednesday, Planet Wax record shop, will be opening up their turntables to aspiring electronic DJs and dance floor to anyone looking to vibe to the tunes of undiscovered talents. With no idea what to expect, the prospect of some rare tracks making an appearance, and free tickets, this one is well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Rinse FM’s Summer Terrace Party

Night Tales – Thursday 8th August

London is really doing us a solid with the free events this month (and thank god bc after two months of seshing my account it dryyyy), heading to Night Tales for their annual summer party, Rinse FM will be bringing Broke faves Papa Nugs and DJ ADHD for a B2B alongside other sick names. Thursdays are the new Fridays so get your butt down to Hackney and have a boogie to what will be some banging tunes!

Make A Dance with Friends

The Carpet Shop – Friday 9th August

Make-A-Dance (also known as M.A.D records) have been making their rounds at the UK’s best electronic music festivals this year from Gottwood back in June to Wibbly Woods last weekend, spinning some insane tunes, so when I saw they’d be popping up at Carpet Shop in Peckham snagging tickets wasn’t even a question.

Breaka & Bakey (All Night Long)

Colour Factory – Friday 9th August

Underground music’s ride-or-die brother duo Bakey and Breka will be going B2B in a six hour set at London’s legendary Colour Factory next Friday for the third year in a row (what a setting for this to go down!) Hosted by MC Chunky and a “very special surprise guest” If you’re after satisfying bass, playful wobs and trippy vocals that’ll send you into space, head down to Hackney wick.

RETAKE Summer Day Party

The AAJA Snake Pit – Saturday 10th August

Retake London and the underground go hand in hand. Ready to kick off their first ever event on Saturday, the event brand, ran by two besties who are not only inspired to help maintain club culture but also to keep electronic dance music thriving and people dancing, will host undiscovered House & Garage DJs including L&F, Lady Passion and Martin Larner for a mysterious day rave that’ll set the tone for future events.

krankbrother presents: Four Tet All Dayer

Finsbury Park – Saturday 10th August

There’s very few things that’ll get me trekking to Finsbury park (my Wireless days are long over) but if anything is gonna temp me to North London, it’s a five hour set from Four Tet… Joined by DJ ADHD (who I’ve been trying to see live for months now) and hosted by the Krank Brothers, in search of some deep EDM and twinkly light hearted tunes under the trees, this one’ll be right up your street.

$werve, Slowboy and Aurorian Records Presents: Phonk Up London

The Lower Third – Saturday 10th August

Full disclosure, I’m not a massive Phonk fan, but it’s a genre that’s seems to really be popping it’s head above the surface, so consider me curious. This Saturday $werve, Slowboy and Aurorian Records will host the first ever UK Phonk event and despite it not being my vibe I feel like some Brokerz out there might f*ck with it.

Tibasko: London

Night Tales – Friday 16th August

Shoutout to Tibasko for making us absolutely wheeze with their promo video for this one, for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet I highly suggest giving it a watch. While NT’s Loft tend to have a chip on their shoulder (fair warning to anyone who hasn’t visited this venue before, the vibe of the people running this place ain’t it) I will say their booking agent deserves a raise bc with DJs like this on their lineup we’ll let it slide.

Silva Bumpa, Auramatic & Megan Wroe

Night Tales Loft – August 16th

We’re always seeking out some wobs and when I came across Silva Bumpa about a month back, something about hits beats scratched an itch in my brain. Heading down to Night Tales Loft for a daytime sun-soaked daytime set (bring your fans bc I reckon this’ll be a steamy one) expect wonky wibbles and some absolute belters from 5PM onwards.

Peggy Gou plus special guests Mochakk, LSDXOXO, Sally C + Hiver

Gunnersbury Park – Saturday 17th August

I’m yet to see Peggy Gou live and after watching numerous clips of her sets on socials a day spent raving to her tunes in the leafy green Gunnersbury Park sounds lush, that said, the price of this event is pretty eye-watering, with tickets going from £70-£100 for a five-artist lineup (but if you’re absolutely gagging to see Gou and have got the funds to firm it, here you go…)

Jive Talk & Friends: Terrace Takeover

Bar 90 – Saturday 17th August

We’re in for a soliddd weekend with this one, taking over bar 90’s terrace (one of my absolute favourite venues) is Jive Talk, our-ride-or-die record label who’ve keep us grooving throughout summer everywhere from Gottwood to Noisily. You can’t go wrong with a set from this lot and with a ten-hour set on the cards I know exactly where the Broke gang will be spending our Saturday.

LOCUS WORLD: Josh Baker, Kolter, Luke Dean, Prunk, L.P. Rhythm B2B Gaskin & more

Studio 338 – Saturday 17th August

As far as funky tunes you’ll f*ck with, you can’t go far wrong with London record label Locus. Bringing their biggest-ever day and night rave to Studio 338’s terrace and garden for an extended 16-hour rave. I’m always gagging for some groovy tunes and with Josh Baker and Luke Dean (who we pray drops ‘You In The Lobby’) both on the lineup, this is one I’m keen to scout out this month.

S.A.S.H London ★ Lion & Lamb with Voigtmann ★ August Bank Holiday

The Lion & Lamb – Friday 23rd August

As far as bank holiday motives go, it doesn’t get better than an extended Voightmann set at The Lion & Lamb. Round up your mates and kick off the three-day weekend by backing bevs and ‘avin a boogie in the middle of what will no doubt be a decent crowd.

fabric x Eastern Electrics: Seth Troxler B2B Skream, Indo Warehouse, Cameron Jack

fabric – Saturday 24th August

If you haven’t been lucky enough to witness Skream in fabric, I highly suggest copping tickets to this one, something about this space makes his sets thrive. Last year DJ Daddy had locked me locked at the front of fabrics decks from start to finish (without water or a wee) and had the bouncers practically begging him to stop dropping the tunes past his set time lmao…

Brick Lane Summer Block Party: Marcia Carr, Tim Garica, DREA, Sue Veneers, SPECIAL GUEST

Cafe 1001 – Saturday 24th August

Are you even a Londoner if you haven’t done a block party before? Anyone looking to check this off their list will be doing so at the right time with this set to be Brick Lane Block Party’s biggest edition yet. Spread across three venues Cafe 1001, Brick Lane Tap Room and Bar 91 Living Room, expect exclusive sets, pints, drag and a whole load of dancing.

Body Movements – A New Playground

Sunday 25th August

Honestly, I’m buzzing for this one… Switching up their usual Hackney-Wick set up with a new space for queer bodies to bloom and boogie in Southwark Park (which happens to be just down the road from me, score) this year’s lineup has popped tf off. Bringing back resident party starters including Michelle Manetti and Pxssy Palace, they’ve also gone all out with Patrick Mason, LSDXOXO, Peach and Confidence Man set to appear.

Boiler Room: London

Venue TBA – Sunday 25th August

In what will be Boiler Room’s biggest London show to date, the homecoming leg of their 2024 World Tour will see artists including I Hate Models, LB aka LABAT, Main Phase, Marlon Hoffstadt, Skream & Benga take to their five-stage, open-air (and currently undisclosed) venue for a day of multi-genre music ranging from heavy techno to house.

they Queer Day Party: Michelle Manetti

Colour Factory – Saturday 31st August

With a promise to reach new levels of cuntiness, they brings Michelle Manetti to Colour Factory for an open-air party filled with queer house, a community that’ll restore your faith in humanity and inclusivity all round (we’ll take some sun too if the UK weather will allow it). With supporting sets from resident DJs Viv + Suz and Ross Anderson, get ready to slay the day away.

fabric: Andhim, Nandu, Pattn B2B EMJIE, Nyra, B.Love, Lulah Francs

fabric – Saturday 31st August

There’s only one way I’ll be seeing out the last few hours of summer 2024 (because let’s be honest as soon as September hits it’s all down hill from there) and that’s B.Love and Lulah Francs at fabric (what a combination), conveniently they’ll both on room 03 which is where I’ll be spending the entire night.
