We had the utmost fun at one of London’s top carpet and dinner experiences. If you know us we aren’t used to the fancy stuff so with that in mind we were expecting to be wowed but did Lío do it in such an unpretentious way it made the experience extra special.
After calling up my uni bestie who works in film (he was the perfect amount of casual but also someone who understands being in a little bit higher up places) we got our dress-up faces on as it was the Halloween special night and the dress code was “Dress As Your Favourite Musician”. Broke being Broke our first thoughts were DJs.
Gigging about with some prop decks and lugging them to Trafalgar Square we entered the flower-encrusted entrance and were welcomed with a vile of fruit juice as a shot (non-alcoholic). After glancing over the menu staked with deliciousness it was hard to decide what we both wanted. We tried both the vegan and meat options which outdid our expectations.
The first course was a silky Burrata with tomatoes and what I think were figs, it tasted so creamy with hits of sharp tomato and sweet tang from the first. We also had a go at the tomato tartar which was a bit out of its depths and stood next to the Burrata.
In between courses the dancers and waiters were very friendly and made a real effort to include us in the show, teaching us the flash mod dance that occurred after every song…. my date unfortunately didn’t get into the dancing as much as I hehe. Our mains arrive and by this point, we have had a few drinks so we were dopamine peeking.
Lío London’s Executive Chairman, Julio Bruno, shares his excitement: “This season, we’re bringing opulence back to London nightlife. After an electrifying summer across the Mediterranean, we can’t wait to return to the capital with a brand-new show, fresh talent, and an exciting new menu. As the nights grow darker, Lío will be lighting up London with another sell-out season.”
If it wasn’t for all the amazing food and drink (and my ADHD) we would have stayed for the club night which ran until 4am. The venue hosts some really top names like Fat Tony and The Menendez Brothers within its glamours setting and welcomes everyone, even if the dinner and Cabaret isn’t up your street.
Coming down to it and if you have the funds to splash out, Lío provides top-quality food and an experience with excellent service. The music and Cabaret dance choices may be non-traditional and a little bit cheesy but if you embrace the cringe then you’ll have such a funny night at Lío London.
