How Totality is Redefining Rave Culture and Community for the Next Generation

In recent years i’ve found its hard to find a space to rave and connect with other creatives,  especially in London there’s such a gate kept into networking or just wanting to have a good  night. But i’ve had the pleasure to attend the last two events of Totality and they have really  embraced the underground scene and formed an environment for people to express their love for  music and now they are starting to build a community for young creatives to show their work and  connect.

Totality was created by Jewlz and Jack who grow up together and now have been raving partners  for the last 3 years. From attending so many raves and events that they can’t even count on their  fingers and toes, they were left with a feeling of wanting more and the question of “ there has to  be more than just getting shit faced”. Jewlz coming from a creative background and jack having  so much passion. Totality was born. With the core being community and creating a space that  combined their own taste of music and creative aesthetics, it was about time for them to create  something that aligned with their personal desires as rave enthusiasts. Totality has always been  about not following the rules and not sticking to one creative perspective. Or one music genre and  bringing together like minded creatives who have passion and excitement for peoples successes  and talents.

Totality’s first event was a hit. Situated at Hop Kingdom, they had everything from people selling  clothes, tattoo artists, you could get tooth gems and of course an incredible line up of DJs playing  us genres of garage, jungle, afro beats, tech you name it, it was played. I haven’t experienced  such a community based event in so long! Everyone was chatting and networking about  everything creative and just simply connecting with young people. For me it was a family affair I  had my family and friends that attend and my cousin was DJing! Shout out to Spike Odell as he’s  only 15 but he gave us the naughtiest mix of jungle, uk garage and breakbeats and for a 15 year  old he’s one to look out for. Jewlz and jack organised such a smooth and a perfect layout for  everyone to chill and have a great time!

However, with their second event they gave us a taste of what is yet to come and these lot will be  unstoppable in the event space. Teasing us with a secret location and a Dj line up that you didn’t  want to miss, I was so gassed with the opportunity to head down and take some pics and to just  vibe. As I arrived to east london I found myself Walking down to the canal.. I was confused as too  were we going to be partying. But in typical standards I bumped into someone who later became  the most legendary person at the rave. We rocked up and found this boat flashing all kinds of  colours and thumping around from the sounds of glory (techno music). One thing Jewlz and Jack  have smashed at is creating such a safe and comfortable environment, every single person that  attended that night was there to dance to music and have a good time, no drama just connecting  with the kindest creatives! Artists like Peppa who got us ready for the night ahead with their  energetic and bass driven tunes ughhh I could have listened to them all night! And Guido YZ  woah he left the whole crowd speechless! Serving us beats from jungle, Baile funk to foot work,  you lot need to catch this guy play, as he is on my radar! I left the event with such excitement as I  yet again connected with more young creatives and truly felt I have found a fun space as being a  creative can be lonely.

Totality are of course bringing us another event in September! And if your a young creative looking  to showcase your work! or just love rave culture and good tunes. Head down to their next event  as Totality are always looking to collaborate and to party and trust me you will leave with such a  high adrenaline of excitement from connecting and being inspired from the amazing art, music  and vendors being showcased.
