Introducing Rodney Chrome with “Break the Internet”

Meet Rodney Chrome, the genre-defying artist who just released his latest track and video, “Break the Internet.” Directed by Olivia De Camps and choreographed by Rodney himself. The video is a feast for the senses that references everything from Doja Cat’s live performance of “Say So” to the choreography of Sean Bankhead (known for working with Cardi B and Lil Uzi Vert). It’s a must-watch for anyone who loves left-of-centre music, fashion, and dance.

Rodney Chrome is a Little Rock, AK born, multi-hyphenated talent who now calls Brooklyn home. He’s impossible to categorize, but if we had to try, we’d say his music is a boundary-pushing blend of PC Music, R&B, and Hip Hop. He’s a triple threat, writing all of his own music, choreographing performances, and starring in all of his own videos.

For “Break the Internet,” Rodney wanted to give fans a taste of what drill music would sound like in the year 2099. He drew inspiration from early 2000s bounce music and challenged himself to put as many genres (R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop) underneath the umbrella of Drill music. The result is a track that showcases Rodney’s genre-defying sound and proves that he’s a rising star.

Rodney introduced himself to the world with the QUEER PRESSURE EP (released in June 2020), featuring singles “Pulpit” and “Premium Goods.” In 2021, he performed at AFROPUNK’s NYC festival lineup and even scored Brie Larson’s Disney+ show Growing Up. He’s also landed two songs and instrumentals on Oprah’s Hulu show Hair Tales.

Last year’s Ghetto Popstar Vol.1 EP was a hit, with over 150K streams across DSPs and over 55K organic views on the “To the Money” music video. Rodney is set to turn even more heads in 2023 with what he’s got up his chainmail sleeve.

Keep your eyes and ears open for this genre chameleon – Rodney Chrome is one to watch!
