Joseph Ashworth, a London-based producer, returns with the two-track EP containing ‘Carlos’ and ‘Ladder’ (via Disco Halal). The artist, known for his distinct sound and ingenuity, dips once more into a broad sea of influences, the final result of which is born for peak-time moments on the dancefloor.

Ashworth takes the essential essence of house music and goes with it on both tracks. Through skilled use of vocal samples and subtle left-field references, the artist produces a genuinely captivating and diversified electronic journey built around an addicting four to the floor pattern. On ‘Ladder,’ Ashworth crafts a soundscape that gradually builds to a joyful conclusion.
The artist’s last most recent release on Disco Halal was ‘Breathe’ in 2020; what was evident then and translates perfectly to both ‘Carlos’ and ‘Ladder’ is Ashworth’s ability to create an alternate reality within his music, that’s deep in emotion, offering the dancefloor a sense of escape whenever it’s played.

The throbbing energy underlying these songs, indeed, takes you to an exotic place with the sun bearing down on you. ‘Carlos’ is the ideal precursor to a long-awaited summer and a period when dance music truly comes into its own.
