WOLVES – the concept behind Tell The Truth’s second instalment on the official London BFC Calendar, bared its teeth. The audience left in a wake of awe and excitement with each successive runway look. Starting strong and theatrical, the first model romped down the runway and straight into the photographer’s pit. Initially thinking there must be a hidden exit of some kind, my jaw dropped when I watched him take up space behind a camera and start shooting. Soundtracked by a bold, bass heavy lineup of popular R&B tracks and rap hits, the runway was alive with colour and sound.

The venue which hosted the collection, noteworthy in its own right, was the historic St. Martin-in-the-Fields. The show presented an array of colourful outfits and interesting styling which allowed intrigue to permeate each look. Rainy Womack, the founding designer of the brand is admired as one of fashion’s most intriguing narrative visionaries, with his work expanding beyond expert tailoring into storylines which establish a through-line of high quality design work in each series.

One of the standout pieces was a faux fur gray, white, and blue jacket printed with the imagery of wolves in a snowy landscape. Extended and exaggerated sleeves presented nuanced takes on form and shape as models strutted down the runway. Light denim, knits, and wide legs presented as common staples throughout.

Attendance was packed, queues extending beyond the venue in anticipation as industry heavyweights, media, and fashion professionals took up their seats for the show. WOLVES was daring, loud, and presented new reasons to get involved with Womack’s vision, as if you needed another one. Seamlines extended a rebellious edge, telling tales of nights out turned community meet-ups. Bright blues, vibrant reds, faux furs and bold patterns leading the way. The garments told a tale of vibrant nightlife, community, and a wider understanding of the cultural significance that exists within what we wear. Hailing from LA, Tell The Truth has plans for a global future and is already setting the tone at LFW, we look forward to uncovering their next move.
