LFW SS25 | Sinead Gorey brings back Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging

Those who may not have experienced the typical ‘prom’ back at school (big up to the outcast kids) have no fear as fast-rising British designer Sinead Gorey gives you the ultimate teenage prom vibes with her latest SS25 collection.

Presenting this year at London Fashion Week’s 40th anniversary season, Sinead hosted her runway at the London College in a sports auditorium decked out with bright pink ribbons, bubbly balloons (which many of us got to take home after the show) and gym benches along the sides for us attendees. For fans of the pure-brit, “2008 teen romcom, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, this SS25 set was giving Georgia’s birthday party scene” according to Hypebae.

And much like Georgia, Sinead showed us the outsider’s view on prom within the garments this SS25, what it means to go against the grain. “She’s the outcast — ditching the typical prom dress, probably skipping prom entirely and going straight to the after party,” she explains. Picture a prom night where the misfits have taken over, and the prom queen has been dethroned by a band of anti-heroines.

Reimagining the traditional prom night through a punk, defiant lens, her emphasis is centred on breaking fashion norms. Instead of typical prom dresses, she introduced a mix of bold and provocative looks, including micro skirts, corsets, and body-hugging o-ring dresses decorated with studs and ribbons. This season, like her normal signature style, her designs incorporated a blend of soft nostalgia and tech influences, featuring items like spiked belts and iPhone accessories tied to a collaboration with Human Mobile Devices.

Another massive collaboration that didn’t go under the radar came from custom 2.5-inch Converse wedges – a statement piece Sinead is predicting the return of. Each Converse piece was elevated with her signature accessorised flair—fluorescent belly button bars, bold details, and a punk attitude that perfectly matched the collection’s rebellious spirit.

With bold designs that blend Y2K vibes, punk aesthetics, and tech influences, she champions the misfit experience, empowering those who defy expectations. Overall Sinead signals the rise of a new prom queen: one who writes her own rules. This collection is a celebration and reminder of nostalgic individuality, reminding us that true style comes from breaking norms, not following them.
