Get to know Lumia… a growing star from NYC who has cut her teeth as a photographer, model, and, primarily, the house DJ and producer you need to hear right now. With a few new releases to discuss (and even more to come), we chat about what’s essential to Lumia – as a human being and an artist.

Lumia, how would you like to introduce yourself to our audience?
Hi! I’m Lumia, an artist and DJ from Manhattan, New York.
You’re an indisputable NYC cool girl. As a DJ producer and model, and not forgetting your photography expertise, list three cool things for you.
Being grateful, staying true to yourself, and always treating others with respect!
Your first release is called New York. Do you think New York is the best City in the world? If not, who does it better?
Yes, New York is the best in the world!
As an artist and creator, who/what inspires and motivates you right now?
The City is always where I pull inspiration from.
If you had to describe your music to someone who had never heard you, how could you encapsulate your sound in a few words?
Upbeat, sophisticated, and playful!
We’ve had Paris (Ami) on repeat—we’re obsessed. Tell us about your plans for the rest of the year. Are there any more upcoming shows?
I’m playing many shows, and I have a lot of music left for release. I’m excited for everyone to hear about the rest of the project I’ve been working on for the past year and a half.
You have also just dropped the visualiser for “Carmen”! What can you tell us about this?
I’m inspired by nostalgic French visuals and wanted to do something more classic. The way the visualiser was edited emulates the feeling of listening to Carmen. It feels unexpected for a tech house song, but it makes sense since the track has an opera spin.
