Matilda Cole, the Brighton based singer-songwriter, has made a name for herself in the previous year thanks to the succession of her catchy indie-pop tunes. The most recent instalment, “Again” is a fantastic opening move for 2022, with dreamy, sensual vocals and contemplative, empathetic lyricism.

Born out of a turbulent relationship she depicts her story with perfect poise. Sharing more on the track she explained: “I wrote Again about that all too familiar cycle of wanting someone so much that you let them hurt you again and again. I thought the idea of not being loved at all was worse than being loved in the wrong way, so I tolerated behaviour that I really shouldn’t have.”

Matilda has definitely established herself as an artist to watch within the last year. With backing from several tastemakers, including BBC Introducing, and her first EP sitting at over 2 million streams, this indie-pop breakout star is already developing her star qualities.
Milk Teeth, the artist’s debut EP, was a stunning coming of age moment – with effortlessly pure vocals and infectious melodies making for a sparkling first chapter. “Again,” now firmly entrenched in her next stage, appears to be her crowning achievement.
