It’s been a rough few years for grassroots venues and events, with more raves than we can count on both hands closing their doors and commercial ventures (or should we say vultures), sweeping in to dominate and decimate dance music culture, the scene as a whole is gagging for some intervention, and we all know that’s only gonna come from the underground…
Reviving that oneness the rave scene was built on and re-opening doors for undiscovered artists, DJ AG, Pirate Studios, and Relentless Energy have launched the ‘Power Your Party’ initiative, providing free sound system rentals for us regular folks, removing financial barriers so anyone can access top spec equipment and fuel subculture through events, creative freedom and ultimately, dance floors and DJs that guarantee a night of banging tunes.
Returning electronic culture to its roots, the trio behind this rebellious movement and straight-up disruptive rejection of mainstream music are making a clear statement that we’re reclaiming our scene, and it couldn’t be more influential coming from three truly authentic figures… DJ AG is known for going against the grain with his guerrilla-style performances and early years MCing and DJing on pirate radio station Axe FM. Relentless Energy has been an active voice and supporter of UK music and youth culture, recently collaborating with Mura Masa to bring a string of big names and raves to local towns that are usually overlooked. Last but not least, Pirate Studios has been providing local artists with affordable 24/7 kitted-out spaces for over a decade.
Chatting about the initiative, DJ AG, who’ll also be offering a one-off mentorship session for aspiring DJs, Producers, and MCs (full details will be announced in October), commented, “Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to build an amazing network and have always felt a responsibility to give back. This project is a direct way for me to support. It’s about more than just equipment—it’s about providing the tools for people to express themselves and build their own scenes, without the financial stress.”
The ‘Relentless Party Package’ includes an all-in-one DJ controller and two powered professional speakers with subwoofers, all by Pioneer, alongside a limited number of free studio vouchers for underground artists keen to practice and perfect their sound in Pirate’s network of Birmingham, London, and Leeds studios until mid-December 2025.
