Project 6 2024 hit Brixton’s Brockwell Park for its second year, and it didn’t just show up—it showed out. For any new electronic music enthusiasts searching for an event to kick off festival season, keep your eyes peeled for their 2025 lineup. Their collaboration with Rinse FM, an iconic pillar in the electronic music community with roots as a pirate radio station and now repping underground artists across the board, made the vibe unapologetically raw and real, bringing together a mishmash of the freshest labels and artists in the scene.
This year’s stages were playgrounds for discovering new DJs from Fabric London’s setup, where DJ Boring and DJ Seinfeld served up a back-to-back set that was (forgive the pun) anything BUT boring and over at the Outlook stage, festival-goers cosied up under the tiny tent to groove to DJ Stingray 313’s weebily woobily beats. Then there was the Sports Bangers stage hosting sim0ne’s heavy tech-house set, which was nothing short of a sonic punch to the gut (in the best way possible) and treated us to a listen of her new single ‘number one lover‘.
We came for the lineup and weren’t disappointed, with DJ Love and Phone Traxxx making the park pulse with adrenaline alongside a string of underground artists keeping the energy fresh with unexpected tunes, BMPs and reverbs, plus the drum and bass tent delivering a relentless assault of beats that dared you to stand still (spoiler: you couldn’t).
As far as day festivals go, Project 6 is the perfect taster to kick off summer whether you’re a first-time festival goer or seasoned sesher looking to dip your toes back in before the chaos begins. It’s short, intense, and leaves you buzzing for more, like the shot of espresso you need to get hyped for the marathon of festivals ahead. Londoners, consider yourself officially in the swing of things.
