Psylo presents the visual aid for debut single ‘Moonchild’

Following the June 24th release of ‘Moonchild,’ New York-based duo Psylo are back with the hard-hitting, espionage aesthetic music video – this July 22nd. The single was a smashing success, and it exemplifies the pair’s dedication, attitude, and affection toward each other and their invention Psylo.

With the accompanying surreal, psychedelic video for ‘Moonchild,’ it blends both the sci-fi components of the single with passion, inventiveness, and dedication – which runs through the blood of Psylo and the music they make. Otto explains “the concept of the video revolves around Ziggy’s line in the hook ‘and that search for yourself could turn into a chase.” He expands “playing on the concept of searching for one’s self we wanted to lean into illustrating that, via the imagery of espionage. The aesthetic influences were drawn from 60’s/70’s espionage films as well as 90’s hong kong cinema… with a bit of 2001 esc psychedelia sprinkled on top.”

Zig also speaks about the video, “by the time you fully understand what’s taking place in this video, you’ll be thinking about shit differently & that’s the mission.”

‘Moonchild’ serves as the conceptual basis for a future album that is an inner-space music investigation. This song’s production was influenced by gritty 90s NYC hip hop. They merge trip-hop evocative of Portishead and early Gorillaz, similar to Wu-Tang and Smiff-N-Wessun.

This music is menacing, scary, yet funky, emphasising the powerful blend of genres that work so well together. This rough yet smooth music production is Psylo’s first in a long line of releases.
