RAY CHU AW22 | TOUCH ME

The RAY CHU Collection for AW22 has 20 various sets with a distinct and contemporary look. The “Touch Me” collection pays homage to sensuality via unconventional design.

RAY CHU incorporated aggressive shapes and a more subdued colour palette this season, with detailed motifs emitting powerful statements: Chill, Sage Green, Warm Ivory, and Glossy Noir are three major colours that depict a relaxed, laid-back attitude while yet expressing a desire for climax sensations through metaphorical visual manifestations of human wishes.

Ray Chu’s love affair with artistry resumed this season with a spectacular collaboration with the artist Draw Me Denis, whose works are primarily LGBTQ+ group portraiture from a personal perspective and illusions. Logos and motifs have also made their way into the collection and have been used throughout, including prints, embroideries, patches, cutouts, organic design lines, and the JWL lines, to tie everything together.

His popular, provocative but amusing artwork “Touch Me,” from which the collection receives its title, is portrayed with rubber gloves grasping a banana coated in fluids, and “white socks fetish,” which is illustrated with graphics to indicate the fetish climax.

As a positively mindful environmental label, the designer teamed with Taiwanese LAB 808 to co-create a new vegan leather made from recycled tea leaves and plastics. This vegan cloth is used to make all imitation leather components.

The approach presented has a considerably slower speed and a strong emphasis on movements, touches, and interactions, to achieve centre peace and promote the credo of LOVE in all forms and fluidity: ‘We want every person to love himself and others.’
