Shhh2 is a London-based collaboration of fashion designers, painters, and musicians. The group was founded in April of this year. Born out of a yearning for community and creative freedom, as well as a reaction to the distant and alienating post-COVID world hijacked by social media.
Shhh2 recognises the importance of collaboration channels in these times and wishes to establish a personal and local atmosphere devoid of judgement, hierarchy, and financial pressure to generate ideas.
Their artists are involved are keen learners in screen-printing, knitting, photography, digital software, and music creation. They share a common appreciation for the value of alternative slow techniques, as well as a shared enthusiasm for recreating odd materials into fantastical gender non-specific artworks.
They held a debut event at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney Central recently. The aim behind this launch was to showcase all of the collective’s work, collaborative on fashion photoshoots and films. The venue’s bottom level was utilised to highlight their fashion designers’ work, with each showing a combination of trademark pieces, as well as a short exhibition made by the collective’s photographers, graphic and 3D designers. Guests were able to experience some outstanding music performances involving experimental hyper-pop and spoken word after touring the exhibition space.
They want to organise a variety of events in the future, including workshops where they will be able to share their vast range of abilities, such as pattern cutting, knitting, screen printing, photography, and so on, as well as pop-ups, showrooms, and performance events.
