We are heading Up North on the 16th-17th of September for Yorkshire’s largest, annually anticipated dance music event, Mint Festival. Nestled in the wilderness of Newsam Green Farm amidst 136 acres of lush agricultural greenery complete with classic farmyard features, the landscape is electrified with world-class sound systems and high-tech visual offerings.
After 20 years of partying at Mint Club between ’98 and 2018 as the North’s renowned ‘hub of electronic music’, Mint lives on through their Warehouse space and yearly festival. Based at Newsam since 2021 after outgrowing prior stomping grounds, the evolution of Mint Fest continues into its 12th edition, promising 6 pumping arenas with takeovers from new hosts, including the infamous queer party/label/collective He.She.They.
Starting the party on Saturday with a bang, a stellar lineup consists of DJ Daddy Trance (aka Marlon Hoffstadt) shelling down the Bunker, alongside Sarah Story and Ben Hemsley. This stage has no Sunday wind-down in store, as we gear up for an undoubtedly blinding selection of bangers from Skream, with Denis Cruz and Pawsa’s collaborative project, Golfos.
The Orchard blooms fruitfully with the signature wibbly wobbly house sounds of Mint, with Londoner Laidlaw laying it down next to Sweely, Enzo Siragusa and Rossi for some Eastenderz energy, before carrying into Day 2 with a belter of a b2b with Archie Hamilton and Kolter (formerly known as Djoko).
We are set to sweat for a tantalising techno takeover in The Valley, dominated by VTSS, Trym and Hector Oaks on Saturday, before He.She.They rock up on Sunday to show off their eclectic roster of electronic expertise with Absolute, Chaos In The CBD, Salute and Jayda G.
All in all, I reckon it’s bound to be a Mint weekend (sorry). Catch you on the Farm Brokerz!
