“WHO AM I? Fashion Quest for Authentic Self”

The Slovak Fashion Council presented with Fashion Scout X Lone Design Club to debut “WHO AM I? Fashion Quest for Authentic Self” which tackles the topic of identity crisis featuring emerging designers FAMALE and Sofia Tureková

The modern era provides rapid solutions to all of our issues, digital breakthroughs make our lives faster, and the world has shrunk. It’s a carefree existence, but only until we ask ourselves what we think about the world and what makes us happy in it. For the younger generations, the hunt for solutions is becoming difficult. When it comes to defining their identity, Gen Z is stressed by the never-ending options, and the social media phenomena, define what is proper for them. When attempting to answer the question “Who am I?” it is unavoidable for them to reflect on their feelings and explain the environment accurately.

These mental processes are characteristic of the creative approaches of the youngest generation of fashion designers from Slovakia.

Sofia Tureková

Slovak-born, London-based designer Sofia Tureková graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2021. Her designs have been shown at NYFW, the V&A, and the Slovak NDM.

The designer’s approach is informed by a synthesis of critical philosophy, historical sources of craftsmanship, and current art influences, while experimenting with experimental sculpting, creative 3D draping, and new narrative design. Her trademark shapes, with a detailed concentration on design and fabrication, are inspired by her prior folkloric dance experience.

FAMALE

Petra Famlerova founded FAMALE to deliver a statement to the world via her creations. The source of inspiration is always mankind and its shortcomings, with an emphasis on the different difficulties in our world’s system, whether social, political, or environmental.

The garments represent the wearer’s ideals and personality, expressed with a powerful visual statement through designs and knits. FAMALE stands for both masculine and female, while also alluding to the creators’ surname.

The collections are gender-neutral and suitable for all ages. FAMALE stands for family, and you should feel as though you are a part of the brand as well.
