Every Event Worth Leaving Your Yard For This July

London summer is well and truly in swing with people seshing across the capital from sunny canal-side venues in Hackney Wick by day to the sweaty underground dance floors of Fabric by night. If you’re after the creme de la creme of raves this upcoming month, you’re in the right place, we’re not about wasting your time or money, so we’ve spent ours scouting out every event worth attending this upcoming month to make sure we’re only recommending raves you’ll rate…

Prospa Is Reviving The Golden Age Of Raves With Their New EP ‘If You Want My Loving’

Prospa, aka Harvey Blumler and Gosha Smith, long-time mates from Leeds first broke through the surface of the underground electronic music scene (which they’d been dabblin’ in since 2013) with ‘Prayer’ and have since gone B2B with Skream, had crowds going feral from the basements of Fabric to the fields of Glastonbury and built a fanbase of half a million monthly listeners who will have no doubt joined us in gagging over the pair’s funky new EP ‘If You Want My Loving’ in another euphoric release with Circaloco records.

Gottwood 2024: A Secret Welsh World Of Wobs, Wooblies & Womps

One cancelled train later, we found ourselves scrambling to make the 16:33 to Holyhead, running through the heat of London’s Underground, pouring with sweat, backpacks and Mountain Warehouse tents in tow. After admitting defeat stuck in a packed carriage with minutes ’til the train departed, and three stops to go, the universe handed us a gift, a text letting us know the train was delayed and would leave fifteen minutes late. Determined to make it to Gottwood that night, we paced it up Euston’s escalators, down to the platform and collapsed through the doors, ready to depart on a five-hour journey to Wales for a long weekend of baaa-nging beats…

sound of fractures’ lead single ‘scenes’ is chaotic af (so of course it’s a bit of us)

We’ve been following Sound Of Fractures since his last single ‘Meant To Be’ landed a few months back, the first reason being that we’re suckers for some emotional garage mixed with electronica and secondly, because there’s an air of unexpectedness surrounding him which makes each drop as exciting as the next. After digging through the tracklist for his new album (released yesterday) to find something that’s a bit of us, we came across ‘Scenes’, the lead single of his latest release…

Broke Magazine’s Fool-Proof Festival Packing Guide

We’ve had our fair share of festival packing failures, from f*cking up our camping equipment *flashes back to collapsing flooded tents* to crappy portable charges and forgetting to bring suncream. We’ve learned the hard way, so you don’t have to, whether you’re a first-time attendee or a festival frequenter, here’s our fool-proof packing guide for 2024…

ÄTNA Is Switching Up Germany’s Electronic Music Scene With Their New Single ‘Hiatus’

Though often mistaken for part of Berlin’s vibrant music scene, Inéz and Demian remain loyal to Dresden, where their unique musical journey began. This distance from Germany’s main music hubs has perhaps helped them maintain their distinct identity evident in their previous albums “Made By Desire” and “Push Life”, and as much as we love techno, it’s great to hear some range in Germany’s scene, give it a listen and let us know if you agree…

We Infiltrated Soho House To See DJ Daddy Skream, Here’s What Happened…

There’s nothing more powerful than holding your own in spaces where you’re not welcome. Walking into Soho House, the imposter syndrome hit hard, we rocked up wearing our usual attire (looking cool as ever whilst doing so) but amongst the Louboutins, bodycons and clutch bags we stuck out like a sore (and very poor) thumb, so much so that before reaching the roof to see DJ Daddy Skream we already had the nepo babies up in arms, one grassing us up for going to the toilets in twos (what a sad little life Jane)…

A Haven Of Psychedelic Art Is Coming To London

If you’ve clicked on this particular feature, you’ll probably appreciate the cosmic play that led me to find out about ‘ENTHEON’, a psychedelic exhibition by artists Alex and Allyson Grey coming to London this July. Earlier this evening, after shedding a tear over their now sold-out ‘Flesh of The Gods’ blanket (that I’ve been eyeing up since February but have been too broke to buy), I found myself gagging to feel the energy of their work up close, a quick google led me to discover that the New-York-based duo will be bringing their work in the UK for the first time ever next month, right down the road from me in Canary Wharf (what are the odds?)…

We’ve Found Broke’s Summer Soundtrack And No Surprise It’s By Sammy Virji

Last night, we hit warm-enough-to-walk-home-after-a-night-out weather (as we discovered after trekking South to scout out a new venue), and that confirmed it for the Broke crew, the first wisps of summer, so I’ll stop gatekeeping this banger with it’s goated build up and BPM good enough to get your heart pumping before easing you into a puddle of pure bliss with some steamy wobs (big up Sammy Viji and Chris Lake for the beats)…

Bendik HK Drops A Mind-Bending Remix Of Gouldian Finch’s ‘Cocoon’

Bendik HK ain’t your average DJ, he’s got fans around the globe gagging for another edition of his high-BPM mixes and a quick listen into his latest remix will give you an idea why. A wobbly banger that wouldn’t be out of place in an intimate venue, seasoned by a steamy atmosphere and sweaty writhing ravers. It’s a revamped take on Norwegian producer Gouldian Finch’s (or as you might know him better, Martin Horntveth’s) “Cocoon” holding onto the essence of the original but catapulting it into a whole new dimension through injections of nu-wave jungle, electronica, and experimental flair into this remix (if we don’t hear it in a festival tent this summer we’re gonna start tweaking)…

How Metal Morphosis Shaped London’s Subculture

When you think of Camden, two things spring to mind. Punks and piercings. Throughout the ’70s and ’80s, the borough became home to some of this century’s most iconic subcultures, shaping London’s underground scene and communities of individuals identifying publicly with each other through a shared affinity for going against the grain and self-expression through piercings…
