NYC’s Amehl presents ‘Creature From The Ruby Forest Strikes Back II’

This beautiful collection, hosted by the Locker Room gallery, delighted in dreamy interplanetary splendour with underlying political and philosophical philosophy. If you’re familiar with Amehl, you’ll know that their presentations are imaginative and exciting, with fabulous garments.

Amanda Mehl is an artist who launched her business six years ago with the goal of combining art and the creative community with flattering and fun-to-wear garments and accessories. The brand uses unusual materials, artistic media content, videos, and performances. This is their renowned tenth collection and eighth exhibition. Amehl shows are known for their ingenuity and include collections shown in a school busflower shophardware storejewellery arcade, and more.

This display explores the meta notion of “making of” productions and exposes the dark side of fashion. It debunks the fashion show idea in the same manner that the French New Wave debunks the Hollywood fantasy by demonstrating that this is a film set in its films. Some of the models in this presentation acted as performers portraying aliens, alluding to Baudrillard’s concepts about simulacra and hyperrealism.

The production crew was also a part of the performance, with the technical helpers, sound/camera crew, and cosmetics team all dressed in Amehl. The audience was shown makeup stations, clothes racks, light stands, and all of the production pieces.

The ‘Creature From The Ruby Forest Strikes Back II’ show took place at The Locker Room, a femme-owned creative space in Brooklyn, New York, that includes an art collective, a recording studio, and a gallery. It has become a hub for New York creatives throughout the epidemic, and the community’s combined voice is now a cultural influencer, appearing in newspapers around the world, on TV, and on billboards.
