Unknown Fate, the collaborative brainchild of German experimental techno maestro OAKE and British producer Samuel Kerridge, is poised to shake the very foundations of electronic music with their debut EP, aptly titled “Unknown” which is to be released on April 10th. Self-dubbed as the purveyors of “power metal techno”, this dynamic duo’s journey from the studio to the stage culminates in a sonic onslaught set to redefine the genre.
Born from an Atonal commission, Unknown Fate embodies a decade-long friendship steeped in the crucible of creativity, addiction, and sheer audacity. “Forged through friendship, addiction, and debauchery, UF is the sum of our parts,” they declare, hinting at the visceral intensity awaiting listeners. With “Unknown” dropping on April 10th, fans can brace themselves for four tracks of unadulterated sonic warfare.
The genesis of this collaboration traces back to the shared studio space in Berlin, where Kerridge and OAKE started their journey. Now, after years of gestation, their sonic offspring is ready to unleash its fury upon the world.
Reflecting on their Atonal debut, OAKE reminisces about the sheer magic of creating music uninhibited by ego or expectation. “There were no egos, there was just this pure energy of whatever goes… goes,” he recalls.
And their aim? To craft a sound that would engulf spaces like Kraftwerk, leaving audiences exhilarated and ears ringing. Kerridge, a pioneer in his own right, brings his signature blend of heavy, distorted beats and industrial textures to the mix, complementing OAKE’s dark, atmospheric soundscapes with a raw energy that is both captivating and uncompromising.
As individual artists, Kerridge and OAKE have garnered cult followings for their boundary-pushing performances and uncompromising vision. Kerridge’s live hybrid DJ sets, hailed by Resident Advisor as “Mix of The Day”, showcase his mastery of hardware and software, while OAKE’s intense live performances blur the lines between music and visual art.
